If you're a veteran, the SBA may be able to help you get into business or expand an existing firm. The SBA sponsors special business training workshops for veterans; in some parts of the country, the SBA also trains veterans through computer-based and long-term entrepreneurial programs. Each SBA office has a veterans' affairs specialist or veterans' advocate to provide veterans with special consideration for loans, training, and/or procurement.

In addition, the SBA and the International Franchise Association are co-sponsoring a program to reduce the capital that veterans need for buying a franchise. The Veterans' Transition Franchise Initiative, or VETFRAN, introduces veterans to business opportunities in the franchise industry. The VETFRAN program includes a wide range of franchise opportunities to choose from.
